Spring Classes
The Batter’s Box, Connecticut’s oldest baseball training facility, is offering starting in March 2010 spring classes that specialize in hitting, pitching, catching and infield. These classes are designed to develop and fine tune areas of the game for the individual player. Baseball is a very tedious sport in which you have to continuously work on the small things to better yourself as a ballplayer. These classes will breakdown each area of the game so players can receive the top instruction and perform the necessary drills to improve. By training hard and turning your weaknesses into strengths, you will better your overall ability. Remember practice makes perfect. If you want to become better you have to be willing to put in the time.
4 Week Program
Sessions run from March through May
Hitting Class
Our hitting classes touch all aspects on the mechanics of swinging, from physical development to mental. We break down the swing into all the mechanical movements and instruct players how each movement is performed. As weeks progress we will put each mechanical aspect together to properly develop a proper/correct swing.
Infield Class
Our infield classes will breakdown the fielding process for players looking to play the infield. Players will be instructed and drilled on the development of their hands (Forehand and Backhand), their footwork (Prep Steps- movement before a pitch is thrown), Lateral (Left to Right), and Linear (Front to Back). Players will be taught proper arm slot so they can be quicker with their throws. Players will also be taught to read a batted ball to play the hops correctly. Lastly, a player will develop range by working on agility drills as well as their hip flexors and flexibility. To play the infield you have to have quick feet and range.
Catching Class
Our catching class will instruct players on how to play this vital position. The class will touch on all defensive aspects of catching. Catching is the one area in baseball that receives little attention from coaches on teaching proper techniques. In general there is not enough practice time devoted to it and the result is lack of quality catchers’ at all amateur levels.
Pitching Class
Pitching is the single most important aspect of baseball, it’s what controls and ultimately defines the outcome of a game. In a game, pitching is the difference between winning and losing. Our pitching classes will instruct and train players on the mechanics of pitching. Players will learn from a proper balance to a proper arm slot to learning how to attack a strike zone and command pitches. The entire process of pitching will be broken down, explained and drilled.
Class Size
Maximum of 12 players per class.
Times
Spring Classes meet for one 1.5-hour session each week. Each class time listed below is a separate class.
