Mechanics
The Steve Bray Beginning Pithcing School will teach A-Z mechanics, with the focus on THINKING, as opposed to just throwing. Good, solid mechanics will greatly contribute to the health of the arm, so the drills in this program are designed to maximize the entire body. Since pitchers cannot throw every day, these drills allow the young pitcher to work out on his own, without the use of a baseball.
Throwing Techniques
The focus of throwing techniques will be on teaching and developing the five main points of the pitcher’s wind up. Proper arm angle and release points will also be taught.
Grip
Coach Bray will instruct participants in the proper grip for different pitches, with an emphasis on allowing the proper grip to take pressure of the arm.
Hitting Spots
For pitchers, locating and being able to hit spots with their pitches is one of the keys to success. Coach Bray will work with each student on developing command and control of the pitches they are learning.
Mental Preparation
Another key to a pitcher’s success. Coach Bray takes from his experience as a professional to impart to students the mindset they will need to be successful when they take the mound, as well as the importance of knowing and learning a batter’s tendencies and weaknesses.
Conditioning
Proper conditioning is key to a pitcher maximizing their abilities to throw hard, accurately and to avoid injuries. Pitchers will be taught proper conditioning techniques and drills that can be used throughout the year to stay in peak condition for the season and get the most out their abilities.
Age Brackets/Times
