2009 Holiday Clinics
Our 2009 Holiday Clinics are designed to teach you son/daughter proven hitting and pitching skills. Each player will receive instruction dedicated to his or her own skill level in the following areas.
Hitting
Participants will be taught with simple and effective drills emphasizing mechanics and the development of “muscle memory” responses for productive plate appearance. These drills, which players can continue to practice throughout the season and off-season, will provide the cornerstone for proper mechanics as well as enabling the player to understand and correct problems in their swing.
Pitching and Catching
Proper baseball fundamentals are important for all age groups, but particularly for the young ballplayer. Focus will be on developing proper mechanics to ensure safe and accurate throwing for both pitchers and catchers. Pitchers will be instructed on the fundamentals of the pitchers motion as well as gripping the ball, release points, arm angle and mental preparedness. Catchers will breakdown receiving, blocking the plate, positioning to throw, footwork and pitch calling.
Fielding and Throwing
We begin by teaching the proper footwork on fielding ground and fly balls. Next we work on delivering the ball to the proper base or cutoff, stressing leg, foot and body positioning, arm swing and release point. Finally we teach the basics of fielding at each base and outfield position. Whether or not the player plays multiple positions, it is important that all ball players understand each position.
Conditioning
Conditioning is the building block to future success. Time will be spent in each session working on and learning drills and techniques to develop and maintain proper conditioning.
