Greater New Haven Baseball League - Spring/Summer League

Our league is a multi-sanctioned league which has affiliation to AABC and CABA. This allows teams to qualify for state, regional and national tournaments. This league consists of a 28-32 game schedule. (Also, there is no minimum innings a player must play).

The Greater New Haven Baseball League is a competitive league which means there are no geographical boundaries and no minimum play time for players. Recreational baseball happens when this criteria is not met. Remember, playing with and against the same players everyday will only improve your skills, with limits. Imagine the state of Connecticut with only teams in one age bracket and all the best are playing. That's competitive baseball.

SANDY KOUFAX offers play in two divisions the 14u and 13 only. The 13s begin in April with DH's on Saturday only and the 14s begin in mid May with DH's on Saturday only. Once Memorial day arrives we go to a Tuesday, Thursday single game schedule and DH's On Saturdays. There will be a 32 game schedule in the 14's and a 36 game schedule in the 13's. There is plenty of time for makeup's due rainouts, graduation, etc. A set schedule will be handed out at the scheduling meeting.

MICKEY MANTLE is our 16U division. The league begins at the end of May with a planned 28 game schedule. The league plays its games on Wednesday, Friday and a doubleheader on Sundays. This allows ample time for makeup's. The league will start prior to the end of the high school playoffs. This will allow teams, whose high school did not make the state playoffs, to begin their season. The teams who did make the states will cancel their games and make them up at a later date. The schedule also allows players to participate in other sanctioning bodies on their off days.

CONNIE MACK is our 18U division. The League begins play in early June with a 14-20 game schedule. The schedule will be set up through the coaches only.

The Greater New Haven Baseball League states that the leagues are 14 and under and 16 and under. If a player is 14, it does not mean the player needs to remain in the Sandy Koufax division. If a players talents warrant a move to the next division, then move him. Please make sure the player will not be overmatched.

Division Alignment

Our divisions will be divided by region for the weekday travel issue. This enables games to begin at 5:30-6:00 p.m., which are suggested unless the case of lights. On the weekends, we will have the interdivision play. In the Koufax division, due to the growth of the GNHBL, we will also set up divisions by talent level for the 13 only teams to compete on a level playing field.

Player Recruitment

Our definition of competitive baseball is choosing players for your team without geographical limitations. Although many team players come from one town, you are not limited to where you choose from. We ask that if you take a player from a team who has previously played in the Greater New Haven Baseball League, to get a release from that team. Pulling players from a wider area allows for more competitive baseball.
